Why We Do Pilates

In their own words — our TRI Pilates community speaks.

This month I asked my students two simple questions: Why do you do Pilates? And what do you love about it?

I wasn’t sure what they’d say. What came back stopped me in my tracks.

Why They Come

“It empowers me to get back on track.”

“I feel my body now. I feel my connections in a different way because of Pilates.”

“I jacked up my back and had no core whatsoever. Pilates reconnected my entire body so it works again.”

“I do Pilates to access other muscles. I feel myself. I’m not competing with myself.”

“It puts my body in shapes I wouldn’t normally feel.”

“She made me come with her — but seriously, it’s my ‘me time’ away from my kids.”

“Mental stability. Moving for strength and wellness.”

“I do Pilates to function better. To feel better. To keep moving my body.”

What They Love

“I love the way I feel when I walk out the door.”

“It helps me feel alive from the inside out.”

“The small classes. The attention you give us.”

“I feel safe. I love my teacher.”

“It’s different. And it’s fun to try different movements.”

“Me time.”

What This Means to Me

Reading these answers, I kept coming back to one thing: nobody said they come to look a certain way. They come to feel. To function. To reconnect. To have an hour that belongs entirely to them.

That is exactly what Pilates is meant to do. And it is exactly what Mindful May is about — slowing down enough to notice what your body is telling you, and giving it what it actually needs.

You have to practice it to give it. And watching my students show up for themselves, week after week, gives me more than they will ever know.

If you’ve been thinking about starting — or returning — this is your sign. Come move with us.
