‘Tis the season to give more and care more about others. The absolute best way to do that is to take care of yourself first! This seems selfish, but it is truly the art of self-care, the empowerment of healing ourselves on every level, that makes us better human beings to each other. Did you receive your holiday gift here at the studio? Come in soon to get one, they are also available for gifts.   Shhhh, it’s a surprise. You have to come and get it before the New Year!
When learning Pilates, beginners feel how important it is to breathe and reconnect to very deep core muscles. Private lessons give us a sense of uplift and calm that no amount of any other movement can achieve. Pilates changes lives!  It is by learning to take care of ourselves, become aware of our every movement and breath, learn how to heal our own pain and injury, that we can be present for others!  What is the BEST gift you can give to others? YOU.
2014 has been a year of learning healthy, functional, full body movement and LIVING MORE FROM YOUR CORE. It is the most challenging time of year to stay healthy and focused on your fitness! Use these last few weeks of the year to “wrap it up with more core!” Practice something DAILY, even if you cannot come to class, use the online video gallery. Close your eyes (use your holiday gift, hint, hint) to sense all the goodness that has come from your practice. Can you actually feel your powerhouse? Do you feel more open? Do your aches and pains subside or actually heal and vanish?
If we’ve fallen short in some areas, just regroup, renew, and recommit. Joe Pilates’ Promise is true – you’ve heard it many times.  In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body.  As we let go of 2014, looking at what we’ve done well, things we could do better and change, we walk forward in confidence and in strength of spirit with Pilates in our core to FEEL THE DIFFERENCE in 2015.
It is by helping others learn Pilates for themselves that has transformed me.  Ask our student teachers about their own process of learning to teach! We help ourselves to be there for others, with physical strength, of course, but more than that.  It’s an inner strength that has continued to grow the longer I am here learning more, for myself and for you.
My vision in the coming years is to teach and share the sensation of Pilates – deep core strength that defies gravity and  helps us stand tall and proud in our lives, with good health and happiness. It is a vision that will empowers YOU, my friend, to feel the difference Pilates makes in your life!
