No better time than September to reflect on how far we’ve come, what we are are doing right now, and where we want to go from here!  Having finally surrendered to the end of Summer – got a sunset over the ocean AND a moonrise over the lake all in this last week – we are READY.  The Fall season is truly a time to get moving again or move MORE!

Our theme this year has really been a challenge on many levels – so thrilled to see many of you embrace additional classes and lessons.  The key?  Consistency.  Even Joe Pilates said:

“PATIENCE and PERSISTENCE are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavor.”

Habits seem to take a good three weeks of daily, consistent effort to “stick.”  When we do things that are “hard” we tend to not do them.  Thank you to James Clear in his book, Atomic Habits, for this thought. Conversely, doing smaller things consistently builds stamina, strength, and the will to continue! Three years ago this Fall, I started my first Whole Life Challenge tracking 6 daily lifestyle habits. It has changed my life! Do I do it perfectly?  NOPE!  Anyone can do something for 10 minutes a day, right? Try it – it’s fun and you will begin to notice your own habits!

Pilates takes practice to sense and engage smaller muscles with smaller movements, and then the journey unfolds. “Our bodies are not always complimentary to our egos.” is a perfect description! With injuries or medical conditions, for instance, we have to learn to “talk” to our bodies with kindness and compassion to ease it into movement.  Two steps forward, one step back is often the case.

With only 100 days until Christmas…and the ensuing New Year – we look ahead to our 2020 theme challenge.  Having put new habits into place, and focused on our personal goals, we can all move to a new freedom in our bodies, in our lives, and in our world.

Stay tuned for more changes on our website and more classes!
