Pilates Energy – where the *Tri* came from in our name *TriPilates.* Body, Mind and SPIRIT. Particularly this time of year, as the holidays come to a close and we start a New Year, we take a look inside ourselves. How is my energy and awareness, my spirit? What really keeps me going are the subtle new feelings we get each and every time we practice Pilates.
People tell me all the time – you are so calm, you have so much energy, how do you do it with 4 kids and a business? The answer? Stay centered, balanced, focused, concentrate on one thing at a time, remain flexible, become stronger from the inside out – all the benefits that Pilates has brought to my life. Energy does not necessarily mean an over-abundance of it – it can mean the calming energy to know that all is well, despite outward appearances.
In these uncertain times, a gathering of community is what will pull us through. We wanted to start this TriPilates blog to gather a Pilates community – to throw a thought out there or perhaps to draw questions and provide answers. How has Pilates helped you in 2008? What do you hope for in 2009? How can we help?
Just like Pilates- go ahead and try this blog. Send us your thoughts, your testimonials, your questions. This is for YOU, our new Pilates community right here at home. We are here to stay, and to grow. Stronger, happier, and healthier.
Last but not least, thank you for your continued support of TriPilates, for your inspiration to teach a journey that will last a lifetime. As Joseph Pilates said, “You never have anything to unlearn.” Here’s YOUR opportunity to share what you have.
Gratefully, Debbie

From a teenagers perspective, pilates is a fun way to work out and stretch all at once. I just had a private lesson with Beth, on of the four apprentices, and she asked if i wanted to work on anything in particular. I told her that i was feeling tight all over and i wanted to do a lot of stretching-and boy thats all we did! At the end of the lesson i felt better and my muscles weren’t as sore. Pilates is a great way to move and activate muscles that we do not already use, but it also is a time when we can focus on ourselves, our breathing, and de-stressing.

I love Pilates because I get to hang upside down and I feel like Gumby after my lessons! Debbie, thank you for sending the 1939 Joseph Pilates quote, “This world of ours is in turmoil and no one is positive of the outcome, and it is now, more than ever before, more practicable and sensible to be in a perfect state of health, both in body and in mind, in order to more successfully confront the problems continually arising.”

Feeling a little tired after too much holiday and my son’s birthday! Started the New Year off this morning with an abbreviated workout. I think that’s what Joseph wanted. Just practice when you can. Do it often. Learn it well. Most of all, remember to breathe. See you at the studio!
